Floorball

Floorball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and it's here on Long Island. Floorball, a type of indoor hockey, is a team sport that can be played on most surfaces, including wooden gym floors, smooth asphalt or rubber mat flooring. This makes it a year round activity for all.

The format of floorball is similar to ice hockey, with two teams of five players facing off on the court. The object is to score more goals than the opposing team. The size of the court and the number of players can be modified based on your overall needs. Not only is floorball safe and fun, but the activity also promotes movement, the well-being of players, the enhancement of motor skills, teambuilding and many more crucial developmental skills.

How was our program developed?
Our program was designed in conjunction with The Peconic Hockey Foundation, USA Hockey, The New York Islanders and the maker of the equipment xHockeyProducts.

OUR MISSION

The Peconic Hockey Foundation, USA Floorball & Town of Riverhead are teaming up to #growthegame of hockey on Long Island by introducing the game of Floorball.

Floorball is designed to provide students and adults with the opportunity to participate and learn the fast and fun sport of hockey without the expense of equipment or learning how to skate.

Through future clinics, training and leagues, players will learn the format of the Floorball game, its basic rules, as well as how to stickhandle, shoot and score.
